This locked bootloader issue with Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy S III has certainly made a full circle. It started off with many angry customers when Verizon formally announced that the bootloader will be locked on their Galaxy S III, but soon after there was hope as a couple of miss-informed Verizon and Samsung reps told various people that an update for the S III would be out soon that would unlock the bootloader. In yet another twist involving Verizon’s version of the Samsung Galaxy S III, contrary to our earlier report, Verizon will not provide a software update to unlock the encrypted bootloader.

As we already knew, Verizon’s version of the Galaxy S III has a locked bootloader, but you didn’t think Samsung did that on purpose did you? Verizon has never been a fan of unlocked bootloaders, which always amazed me that they allowed the Galaxy Nexus on their network.

While Samsung generally makes developer-friendly devices, Verizon Wireless went ahead and became a party-pooper by locking the bootloader of the Galaxy S III smartphone. Of course people didn’t take too kindly of that and immediately went to work and take it to Big Red.

Looks like there’s news that Verizon and AT&T will both receive a developer edition of Samsung’s Galaxy S4. Both of these versions of the S4 have a locked down bootloader, so it makes sense for a developer edition to come out on both of these companies.

Just when you thought Verizon couldn’t piss you off any more, they appear to have gone off and done it again. According to a few lucky developer-types who received their GSIII pre-order early, Verizon’s version of the phone has a protected bootloader. Yeah, that’s right. Verizon has the only U.S.

We already knew Samsung’s Galaxy Note II would be making its way to Verizon Wireless, but a new report suggests that the 5.5-inch behemoth will be locked down.

  Samsung Updates has released the official stock firmware for the Verizon version of Samsung‘s flagship Galaxy S III smartphone.

Back in early July, Verizon wireless customers started getting their pre-ordered Samsung Galaxy S3′s, only to discover that Verizon had done the thing that they feared most: Lock the Bootloader.

Welcome to the party Verizon. Samsung released the source code for the Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T over a week ago so it was only a matter of time before Verizon customers got their fix. The Samsung open source bank has been updated to include the latest kernel files for the SCH-I535, the Verizon Galaxy S III.
