Improving performance on large Android sqlite query

http://stackoverflow.com – I have an Android sqlite database of about 80,000 book titles. I want to be able to use Android's AutoCompleteTextView to populate my results. I can run a standard query just fine, but it is really slow at updating the AutoCompleteTextView dynamically. I am trying to add a LIMIT to my query to make it faster (since I only want to suggest the first 5-10 results), but now the results don't even appear at all. Any help on optimization or getting LIMIT to work would be very helpful. My querying code (getAutoCompleteWords): String select = "SELECT title " + "FROM autosuggest " (HowTos)
