I am going to revisit Icewm in the near future to update it's menu and try to work in On Demand features. Originally, a restart function was not really needed so I didn't put priority on it. I will make a functioning restart when I update the menu.
IceWM is a window and session manager that in a sense emulated old Windows look and feel.
Its features are that it's light and simple to use.
I'm looking for a way to bind for example the Ctrl+Alt+Ins key combination to a command line that would restart icewm (just to make it read the configuration files again and be aware of the edits).
So what should go into that .icewm/keys file ?
key "Alt+Ctrl+k" <tab> <...> ?
Using OpenSuSE 11.2 and IceWM, where is the menu config file located?
It is not in ~/.icewm and the /etc/icewm/menu file is not the same as that displayed with the "start" button. There is no other file named "menu" on the system.
IceWM installed y default in OpenSUSE.
I just decided to try it, but unexpectedly it became the default window manager (something new in behavior, 4 months ago the system asked before changing the default WM).
Now I cannot logoff from it so I could choose another WM: after logoff the monitor says 'frequency out of range' (I wonder, why).
Have 6 boxes with icewm, default pref SmartPlacement=1, does not work on 05/29/2012 icewm bins?On this icewm code ALL x-windows apps display start at xy:0,0,0,0, should display NEW x-window app on unused part of DeskTop.Have another distro [absolute] icewm code on that box display ok.Another arch box with other [older?] icewm bin code may try to sub the older code 06/12/2011to see if SmartPlacemen
IceWM is a great window manager, fast, light and easy to understand. There are many apps to configure it, but i prefer to edit the configuration files. I abhor icons, wallpapers, and the constant use of the mouse (i also use Ratpoison).IceWM allows to configure many options so do not despair.

The minimize, maximize, close buttons on the top-right and the menu button on the top-left are both visible and work fine. The rectangle between them is the same color as the background however (black).
