Client : Windows 7 x32 | Dell Latitude E6510, transferring to another identical machine over the network.. 120mbs.
Transferring to any server (2003 server, 2008, 2008R2, or VM's) I can not get more than 30MBS. The server is plugged into the same switch and is a physical server. I have jumbo frames and flow control enabled.
I am currently using a Server 2008 R2 box with IIS 7.5. I have IIS FTP+SSL setup and working properly with AD accounts. My issue lies in upload speeds. On a previous unix host FTP transfers were quick both with large files, and small files in any quantity.
I have very slow LAN transfer speeds over WiFi to my Windows 7 shared folders.
Using AndroidSMB client, I get a max of 500KB/s yet on WIFI WAN I get speed tests in the 30Mbit/s range.
May I ask for a top 3 paid file transfer UNIX utilities to improve : automation, ease of use, and improve speed compared to BBFTP?
BBFTP is an inconsistent, unsupported, high maintenance file transfer tool.
We have a remote ftp server setup in a geographically different network accessable from our network with VPN (PPTP). The VPN connection is limited to 4Mbit/s.
I've setup a VM running Windows Server 2008 on a host node running Xen 3.4.3-5 and the following kernel: 2.6.18-308.1.1.el5xen #1 SMP Wed Mar 7 05:38:01 EST 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
The network speed on the VM is very slow--using the online speed tests I can only get it up to 8-9mbps. The line is 100mbps burstable and the host node has no problem achieving those speeds.
I am trying to troubleshoot my home lan because of slow file transfer speed. I have 4 machines that all run ubuntu 12.04 and all experience similar transfer speeds on my network. I transfer a file to a pc sitting 2 feet away at about 3 MB/sec (Samba, nfs). 1GB network card, router supports 1 GB speeds, switch supports 200mb, full duplex on all machines.
We have a scheduled task that transfers a large file (~130 MB) between two Windows servers using the Windows command-line FTP program. It's painfully slow (taking about 30 minutes) and occasionally terminates before the transfer has completed.
Hi All,
I'd like to know which one is the fastest transfer / throughput rate across the network for the file sharing ?
I'm trying to create some more datastore for storing the very large backup to disk files.
so I'm now considering between running the following over the network:
Ubuntu Server + Samba
Openfiler + iSCSI target (never try this before).
all of those will be over the gigabit netw
