Glad to be here and a huge fan of Android and the apps. We develop apps and mobile sites for clients. I am hoping to gain more experience from users and people on this forum.

I have one pc with Win 7 Home Basic 64 bit installed. I know a bit of Java and would love to develop small apps for my Android mobile for fun. But despite trying a few sites that give instructions on how to install the required tools for Android development in Win 7, I have not been able to install them properly let alone run them.
I have been searching for people using 'C' version in Canada but I can only find people using 'U' version and they have low LTE signal issue. I would like to know if 'C' version works well in Canada. The reason I am looking for 'C' version is additional band 17 (700mhz) deployed by Rogers would help boost the signal.
Could anyone give any input please. Thanks in advance.

Recently, Apple has been rejecting some of our apps, mainly because they were deemed too similar to Siri.
There are so many mobile operating systems out there and people seem to be developing apps for an OS they like be it iOS or Android. But I would love to know the different development tools (IDEs/Frameworks and programming languages) that are both totally free and proprietary that one can use for developing apps for a particualr mobile OS.
Startup Canada today debuted a $100,000 Indiegogo crowdfunding effort to try and raise money for building an online resource to help entrepreneurs across Canada gain access to crucial support and resources as they build their businesses.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fahrbot.apps.switchme&hl=en . I want to develop something like this app for Android. I know that this app requires root permissions. If I want to develop something like this, where can I find the private APIs required for this. Or is there some other way to do it ?
