John Carmack, founder and technical director id software, recently tweeted that Wine for Linux gaming seems like a better idea than Native ports.
It is not first time Carmack has shown his support for Wine.

In November last year, John Carmack open sourced Doom 3. Since than many developers are working to improve the source code.
In one such effort, Polish developer Krzysztof Klinikowski has ported the game to Android.

DOOM 3 BFG Edition was officially released for the consoles and the Windows platform more than a month ago, but id Software hasn't forgotten the Linux community and now they've also published the source code for the game.
The initial announcement was made in October by John Carmack on Twitter, but there was no other indication of the release date.
Zynga announced this morning that it has acquired game developer November Software for an undisclosed amount.
The acquisition apparently occurred back in the spring, but Zynga is only announcing it now, in part so that it can drop a few hints about the game that the November team is working on.
