What is the “Templates” folder in the home directory for?
I often want to start a new document in a folder I've navigated to in Nautilus.
xml template types
The Fallowing information is for developers or editers of themes that wantto use bult in templates to display thare tiles and program icons
I want to list all the templates hears and give as much info about each template as posible for my personal refrence and also for others
so i just desided to make a tread where we can talk about templates how thay are used and what we need
This is an unexpected behavior in Thunar: The templates must reside in the ~/templates folder.The problem is that they must be real files, not symlinks.- If ~/templates is a symlink to another folder (for instance ~/Dropbox/templates).
I can't seem to create templates in Lubuntu. I have a folder in ~ called Templates, which I directly copied from my previous home folder when I installed Lubuntu 12.10, but when I right click in the file manager, in the create new menu, none of my templates are there!
Lubuntu doesn't use nautilus but PCMan File Manager. According to this website, PCManFM has template functionality.
Update Manager will not update although I have over 100 updates to do I get a error message like this:
installArchives() failed:

I already configured XDG_TEMPLATES_DIR field in ~/.config/user-dirs.dir ,
The folder is absolute path, and accessible, with several files inside.
But when I right click, the "Create Document" menu is still empty. Is there something I missed?
UPDATE
%> grep TEMP ~/.config/user-dirs.dir
XDG_TEMPLATES_DIR="/YY/XX/Templates/"
And that path exists and have files inside.
I am in the process of designing the group policies for my organization, and I'm wondering if there is somewhere I can go to look at templates, to see how other people have set theirs up, and even download templates to work off of.
I have installed several templates in cloudstack and I can see them in TEMPLATES module of management. But when I try to add an instance all the templates are missing. Did anyone experienced the same issue in the past?
Thank you
The update process no longer works. Here is what I get:
