I've been testing out the new Statler release on an ASUS Eee and I really like--it's fast and responsive. I need to be able to input East Asian text, however, so I tried to install either 'ibus' or 'scim' which was available in the default repos from Statler release 2011.02.04When I searched for ibus or scim in Synaptic, however, the base package was not to be found!
Hello.
I'm tri-language myself and can't configure ibus in recently installed Beefy Miracle.
I'm using RU+EN+JP (Anthy) and whenever i switch from RU to JP, ibus doesn't catch my input so i can't type japanese. This is probably bug in ibus, but here is more:
Then i try to remove layouts other than Anthy in ibus-setup, settings resets back to default (all using languages) after relogin.
ibus works for me in java (ibus-anthy, but that shouldn't be a difference), but I don't have that line in my bashrc: ibus-daemon -d -x &

I've installed iBus and ibus-mozc, an input method engine of Japanese, from the repository, and attempted to enable mozc from Preference > "Input Method" tab > "Select Input Method" combo box.
However, there is no choice to select, so I couldn't enable mozc.
I also tried ibus-anthy, another legacy Japanese input method, but the situation was the same and I couldn't use anthy.
This problem is als
I think ibus is the best input method but it can only be installed via ccr or Chakra put it to extra.I like also fcitx bur for typing Japanese Korean and Chinese ibus is much more better.I am hoping to see ibus and ibus-gtk support on the extra repo.
IBus 1.4.1 is not working on Kubuntu 12.04.1 LTS (64bit).
i think IM-settings is dead. i cannot get ibus or scim work.
IM-Settings-Daemon[6769]: CRITICAL **: Giving up to bring the process up because Main Input Method process for ibus rapidly died many times. See .imsettings.log for more details.
i have re-installed but it doesnt help at all.
could someone help with it? any way could get it sorted?
I can't seem to get Chinese input working.
I have ibus installed. I can see a choice of input methods in the taskbar at the top. At the moment I have zh (Chinese) and en.
But I am not getting the Chinese input, the input is still English.
I ran sudo ibus-setup, but that showed a lot of errors, but got the demon up and running.
I must be missing a step somewhere.
