I have an older core 2 duo off the shelf Acer computer for which I would like to replace the power supply. The computer is Acer model AM5630-U5202A, and the power supply is a LiteON model PS-6301-08A. I have a newer computer that I use as my main computer, but I would like to keep the Acer going as a backup and as a TV tuner since is has a tuner card.
I was surprised not to find this question addressed before. I want to upgrade my graphics card, so I was warned that I would need a better power supply. I have an old Acer Aspire M1610, which has a 250W PSU, I intended to buy a cheap 450@, but the salesman persuaded me I needed better than that, so I got a Raidmax RX-630SS.
Hi. My roommate just upgraded my Ubuntu 8.04 to 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) on my Acer Aspire 5315. When I arrived home and tried to use the computer, I noticed the fan was not working properly, the laptop was overheating and shutting down. I realize there is already a thread for this (Acer Aspire 5315 Shuts Down, Hardware & Laptops), but it's quite confusing.
Download the latest driver for Acer Aspire 5050 VGA driver version 8.301 from the link we provided below this post. Aspire 5050 uses ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 integrated graphics (64-256mb shared memory). Download this driver to get more power for your Acer Aspire 5050.
I had a custom computer built 4 or 5 years ago. The power supply is now going out. I really liked what I had as it was very quiet and when I loaded the computer, the fan came on. This was great. It would be quiet all the time but when I loaded the computer the fan came on for minimal amount of time. The power supply does not have a manufacturer or model number on it.
I need to get a new power supply as my last one blew up and would like to get some recommendations. Personal experience is very welcome here, so if you've got a power supply that has been working for you for a very long time I would love to hear about it.
