I was surprised not to find this question addressed before. I want to upgrade my graphics card, so I was warned that I would need a better power supply. I have an old Acer Aspire M1610, which has a 250W PSU, I intended to buy a cheap 450@, but the salesman persuaded me I needed better than that, so I got a Raidmax RX-630SS.
Hi. My roommate just upgraded my Ubuntu 8.04 to 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) on my Acer Aspire 5315. When I arrived home and tried to use the computer, I noticed the fan was not working properly, the laptop was overheating and shutting down. I realize there is already a thread for this (Acer Aspire 5315 Shuts Down, Hardware & Laptops), but it's quite confusing.
Download the latest driver for Acer Aspire 5050 VGA driver version 8.301 from the link we provided below this post. Aspire 5050 uses ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 integrated graphics (64-256mb shared memory). Download this driver to get more power for your Acer Aspire 5050.
I need to get a new power supply as my last one blew up and would like to get some recommendations. Personal experience is very welcome here, so if you've got a power supply that has been working for you for a very long time I would love to hear about it.
I am trying to get a computer to run off a DC battery. The computer seems to start fine (the CPU fan spins and the hard drive whirs), but nothing displays on the monitor. It just stays blank, as if there is no signal being sent to it.
A couple of years ago, I upgraded my desktop from a Athlon 64 x2 based system to i7 based system. I kept the same case and power supply. A few months later, I had to sell the system for financial reasons. Since then, the Athlon system has been sitting in storage until now. I got a new case and power supply and threw everything in.
