Hi there! The ati graphics-card i have installet in my laptop is HD 5470.
I have installed the drivers both from the repositories AND from System Settings -> Additional Drivers -> ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver. I can locate the Catalyst Control Center, but i cannot open it.
I just got a new/used computer with an AMD/ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics card.
I've installed the default driver, and rebooted, but the end result is worse than with no driver.
While trying to get a game to work I tried installing the AMD Catalyst driver on my Fedora 17 laptop (I did this through the "additional hardware" option in my menu, if that matters), now whenever I boot into Fedora it just freezes at this text style loading bar.
I have managed to install the drivers, but after installing those drivers moving different windows such as browser is very laggy.
Why is that? I also tried older drivers, but they all have the same problem. I have ATI Radeon HD5850.
I installed this driver: AMD Catalyst™ 11.11 Proprietary Linux x86 Display Driver.
HP Pavilion dm4 with configuration as shown below
cpu intel Core i5 2.26 GHz
RAM 4.0 GB
Graphics processor 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5450 switchable graphics [HDMI, VGA].
I installed ubuntu 10.04 ( without AMD graphics driver) it was working fine, but when I installed AMD graphics drivers AMD Catalyst™ 12.8 Proprietary Linux x86 Display Driver, than the problem started from then When I b
So, today i've got a fresh install of 12.10 x64 on my pc.Everything was fine except video driver.I've downloaded video driver from ati's website.Installation was successfully too. Then i did reboot, and after reboot compiz won't work.
I did compiz --replace but that doesn't help. So, only way to get back unity was to uninstall ati driver through terminal. After that, i did reboot and everything w
Hey there.
Alright, so I'm about to go a little crazy now. I have Ubuntu 12.10 64bit installed (twice now).
I have tried installing AMD's 12.9 beta and 12.10 catalyst driver from their website. Each time I do, my system breaks upon reboot. I literally cannot do anything. Not even Ctrl+Alt+F1.
The messages each time are different on screen .
I am really new to ubuntu. Installed 12.10 it this weekend. The interface is lagging me like crazy and I think it is because I can't get my 6950 drivers installed. I downloaded the latest drivers from AMD.com. I am a noob so all I did was type "sudo sh amd-driver-installer-catalyst-13.1-linux-x86.x86_64.run" I don't know if I need to do anything else by the way.. Heh.
I installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on my Samsung 305U notebook. The thing is when I close de lid it does't resume from suspension, the same problem reported Here.
