Hi frinds !
I m a newcomer in Linux world.
I have just installed Ubuntu 13.04.
On some website I read about Firefox20. So I want to upgrade my firefox. But in help there is
one step in that I have to move firefox directory ( which actually came after extracting file firefox-21.ob7.tar.bz2)
to /opt folder.
I installed Ubuntu using the alternate installation disk and opted for the option of full disk encryption.
However the OS shows unstable behavior. After a few minutes of using it, it reacts very slow. The computer sometimes (temporarily) freezes or even crashes when an application (like Firefox) is opened.
I do use a pretty old (second hand) hard disk.
I have an application that is using firefox to manipulate browsing.
I made this application on my Ubuntu distro and it is working fine.
But will it work on debian server? Can I install and launch firefox without using GUI in console mode?
I really don't know what happened to my Firefox browser. I was using it till yesterday but now it is not working(doesn't open up at all). I restarted my computer, re installed Firefox using yum and it went okay, but that also is making no difference.
I would take this question over to Mozilla.org and not here at askubuntu.com except for the following:
This is a brand new install of Ubuntu, Firefox and Thunderbird.
On the same computer I also have band new installs of Firefox and Thunderbird for the Wondows7 partition. And they are running perfectly.
One of the Firefox lockups is totally reproducible.
I was using Firefox 3.6.8 and I installed FoxTester for the Firefox 4.0 beta. After a while, I saw in the FoxTester Menu that there was a Make Default option. I used it and now Firefox doesn't work at all! I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it said that there was a error when installing.
