http://askubuntu.com – When i try to use Ubuntu on my PC (windows), i get an error which says the following: >This kernel requires the following features not present on the CPU: pae Unable to boot - Please use a kernel appropriate for you CPU. I dont know what this mean, im not really good at computers. I am using a TMB Thinkpad. Anyone see this error before or does anyone know what it means? (HowTos)

I'm trying to install the Ubuntu Server on an old Dell computer in order to host a website. I previously used WAMP-server on a Win7 environment, but I could only get my upload speed to 1/3 of what it was supposed to be. So I wanna try Ubuntu.

Though, when I boot from the CD, I immediately get the error "This kernel requires an x86-64 cpu [...]".

I wanted to boot newest Ubuntu (precise-desktop-i386, put it on an USB stick with Universal-USB-Installer) on my old netbook(32bit, 4gb ram), but it just does not load the right kernel, it always says:

"This kernel requires following features not present on the cpu pae unable to boot please use the appropriate kernel for your cpu."

Any solution for this problem?

i have recently installed ubuntu 11.10 on my system along with windows xp.

Previously i have ubuntu 9.04, i have deleted those partitions and installed 11.10.

installation is complete but i am unable to boot into ubuntu. Following is the error.

error: can't read file error: load kernel first.

Any help is really appreciated.
