I understand that some of the effects provided by Compiz are built right into the Kubuntu interface and accessible via system settings. I'm trying to set a few plugins and such via the actual CCSM interface.
I've run ccsm from a terminal, I get the jumpy icon, I get the rectangle for it in the task-bar as for any app. But it exists, without ever showing up on screen.
Is there a way of setting certain applications to always open on a specified workspace?
I have noticed that most people suggest using CompizConfig Settings Manager, but this can cause disastrous problems with Unity.
I found this identical question, but the only answer there was CCSM:
Is it possible to pin certain apps to a workspace in Unity?
I assume compiz has a desktop zoom plugin built into 12.04. I used it in 11.04 & 11.10 with CCSM anyway. Now in 12.04 i want to enable and customise this without using CompizConfig Settings Manager (CCSM) anymore*. Is it possible?
