Hi,
I'm trying to dual boot ubuntu 12.10 alongside windows 8. I tried to use wubi windows installer to install ubuntu. Now when I restart my laptop it reports some problem with "File: \ubuntu\winboot\wubildr.mbr". However i'm still able to login to windows 8 but not ubuntu.
The first thing I did was pop in the Ubuntu CD while in Windows. It only gave me the option 'Demo and full installation' instead of 'Install Ubuntu alongside Windows' like it has in the past. Then, I restarted my computer with the disc still in the drive, and booted into the LiveCD environment.
Couple of years back I was using Ubuntu installed within Windows 7 OS. Back then Ubuntu version was 10.04.
Today, I downloaded Ubuntu 64-bit Live Disc and when I try to install I do not understand how to install within Windows 7. So, any day later if I need to uninstall Ubuntu I can do by uninstalling via wubi.
Somehow I do not find those options now.
Hello guys,
I am a windows 7 (64 bit) user and wanted to try out Ubuntu on my laptop.
I downloaded Ubuntu Desktop 12.04LTS (64 bit) on my USB and and followed http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/...ick-on-windows to create a bootable USB stick.
So I wanted to format my old laptop which used to have Ubuntu 10 on it and Windows 7 (32 bit I think).
I downloaded the latest version of ubuntu and set it up to boot from a USB drive.
I want to remove Ubuntu 12.04 and want to install Windows XP on my laptop; the problem is that whenever I try to install my Windows XP from my CD the setup says:
Setup did not find any hard disks drives installed in your computer.
Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct.
Hey everyone. I am having a little trouble installing Ubuntu 12.04 to dual boot with Windows 7. I have tried it two ways. I have tried to install it using Wubi, but when i boot it, i get stuck at a GRUB prompt. I have also tried to install it using a USB stick.
I have a Asus n56vz and I am trying to install Ubuntu 12.10 alongside my Windows 7.
I just want to mention that I am completely new to UNIX and that I have already tried the following methods:
Trying to install directly from a USB (ubuntu doesn't see my windows 7 and thus I do not have the install alongside windows option).
Shrinking my C: drive using windows disk-managment and leaving it unallo
I bought a $600 laptop about a year ago with Windows 7 installed. I had Ubuntu on a previous computer, but I accidentally deleted windows in the process on my old computer.
