I have just installed a new Hyper-V host machine running Server 2008 R2. Created the first VM (also Server 2008 R2 SP1) and all is working apart from a bizare problem with network packets.
Host machine has two Intel Nic's one is dedicated to Hyper-V and is setup as an "External" network in Virtual Network Manager. It's also removed from the management OS, so dedicated just to Hyper-V.
I am running a domain controller, that also has a Hyper-V role installed.
Within the Hyper-V, I have a legacy Windows 2008 SBS that we will eventually retire.
When the guest OS is shutdown network traffic is normal.
When the guest OS is running, there is huge packet loss (around 50%, in bursts of 5 seconds on and off).
I am running Windows Server 2008 R2 fully patched, no antivirus, two NICs (
I’m having several Windows Servers 2008 R2 which I previously accessed using Hyper-V Manager from Windows 7. On upgrading to Windows 8 and enabling the feature Hyper-V, this is no longer possible.
I run a Hyper-V server running several Hyper-V VMs. I was wondering if there is any way for me to manage
the Hyper-V server itself (just Hyper-V role, not the rest of the server box) and
the Hyper-V VMs (like connecting into them)
via Mac OS?
I'm on Mac OS 10.8 on my main laptop. From what I've been seeing the Hyper-V management tools are all Windows based.
I have a Hyper-V Host with a couple of VMs a guest.
One of the guest is the DC. There is only on physical server, so I have only one DC as a Vm (I know, it is not a good solution to have only one DC, but we are limited to on physical server).
All works fine, until I have to reeboot the Hyper-V host.

I have installed a Windows Server 2008R2 SP1 Datacenter edition, and I have added the Hyper-V role, with RemoteFX.
Installed a Windows 7 Ultimate x64 with SP1. Updated the additions, enabled RemoteFX. But... how do I reach the guest?
Okay that I have to enable remote desktop. Did so. Even changed the port on the guest. But how would one reach it from outside?
Hyper-V internal switch and VM OS interfacing with Guest OS and IP Cofiguration
When configuring hyper-v internal switch, Apart from physical lan adapter (say adapter 1), I see another LAN adapter (say adapter 2) added in host os.
Background:
We're running a couple of Virtual servers in Hyper-V at a small office using Windows 2008 R2.
We only have 1 physical host (and we aren't planning to change that any time soon). We're looking to move to Hyper-V Server 2012.
Currently we have a small UPS that keeps the server running for about 20 minutes and then sends a shutdown message to Windows 2008. The UPS Connects via USB.
