I noticed that every page I visit from Opera except this archlinux website has this horrible monospaced font displayed. I went to the font settings in Opera and switched defaults to sans serif fonts but still this monospaced font is everywhere. I checked author mode and user mode and each mode displays the same font.
I am using Emacs 23. linum-mode works well if using with default settings.
But if I increase the font size, the numbers cannot be displayed. It seems the the frame to display the line numbers is not increased as the font size of the line number increases.
Anyone know how this can be fixed?
On my Debian Squeeze (6.x) installation my system had a nice small login shell font (terminus??) but after installing the nvidia drivers for my machine it boots up using a very chunky font (on a 24 inch screen). I tried to edit the appropriate file leaving font as "fixed" but changing size from 16 to 8 (one of the suggested options) but it made no visible difference.
I have CentOS5 installed with a Geforce 9800GT GPU. After installing the driver of GPU, I returned to GUI mode and alwayas the monitor goes blank saying change to otimized mode 1366x768 with 60 Hz.
The same result returns with system-config-display, init 5,startx ,nvidia-setting .

I replaced my ATI Radeon card with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460, and I've noticed a few issues. Switching to/from a virtual console and starting X is much slower now; fonts in X are a bit strange (e.g., Tamsyn in urxvt looks shorter); and the virtual terminals don't acknowledge my consolefonts settings in rc.conf at all, so the console font is huge and ugly (less than 20 lines on a 21&
Today, I started VLC to find that the menu font had become gigantic, to the point where VLC is unusable. The font is so big, that most of a menu doesn't show when opened.
Hello,I followed the nvidia driver installation guide here: http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic
r-squeeze/ . Everything seemed to work very well, but it did say there was no xconf file yet. Problem is, my resolution seems to be altered. I adjusted openbox and conky to font 7 because it was quite large in font 9.
I am running a program fls (from the Sleuth Kit) with option -v for verbose mode. However it takes too long, and the program is still running since yesterday. I guess it will run faster without verbose mode, but I am not sure how long it takes to finish running and whether it is worth to stop and rerun it without verbose.
