I plug a USB hard drive into my machine while Windows Vista is running and am able to access it just fine. I insert an Ubuntu LiveCD, reboot, and find myself unable to access it at all.
Here's what dmesg says when I start Ubuntu up with the drive already plugged in:
Code:
[ 75.064017] hub 1-0:1.0: Cannot enable port 5. Maybe the USB cable is bad?
Yesterday I borrowed the external harddrive from my dad, because I wanted to dd the Snow Leopard Mac OS X image on it, to install it via usb on my netbook (I have done it before). After I finished dding I connect the external harddrive on my netbook, at first it works. But like 10mins later, it isn't recognized anymore.
Is anyone else noticing this with Kernel 3.8.3-201.fc18.x86_64 ?:
I'm using wired ethernet and if the cable falls out or is unplugged, plugging the cable back in will not work to get the network back. NetworkManager will just show the port as empty. My cable tends to fall out occasionally because the lock tab on my cable is a bit weak.
I have a SanDisk Sansa Clip Zip mp3 player. When I plug it in to the USB port, I get the following:
$ dmesg
...
usb 1-3: new high-speed USB device number 11 using ehci_hcd
hub 1-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 3
The Sansa does not show up in lsusb, or in fdisk.
I believe it is not a problem with the cable or the player, as a test-run on a Mac worked fine.
In our MD's house, we have fibre optic connection given by the ISP upto Distribution box inside the house where the fibre optic cable is connected to HUAWEI-ECHOLFIE HG865 terminal .From the RJ 45 port in that device , the ethernet cable goes to the DLINK 8 port switch.
I'm trying to replace an old Cisco Catalyst 2950 with a new Cisco 3750X. Unfortunately, these SFP's are so expensive, I'm trying to work with what I've got. Please note the diagram to see what connections I have. The core switch is SX, as is the old switch it was running to.
Need a little help. I ordered a generic micro usb to full size usb cable from ebay. It doesn't fit. I tried the cable on a friends Xoom and it worked fine. Does the Prime have a proprietary micro usb port or am I just having a brain fart??
Hi. I've banged my head against this one for a few days and I'm about to give up. Any help greatly appreciated.
Fedora 17. Nvidia geforce 210 which has VGA, DVI and HDMI outputs in a Dell Optiplex 755. Using latest nvidia driver (310.19). The VGA port works fine. I can connect the DVI port to a TV and nvidia-settings will show that the TV is detected.
Is anyone else having problems with the charging port not staying tight? When I first got the phone the original charger worked fine. Over time it loosened up, and I understand that. But it got to the point where it didn't charge. So I've been using an old cable. I went to Verizon the other day and took the original cable with me and they exchanged it for a new one(their brand of course).
