Huawei rolls out Ascend P1 LTE 33 weeks 3 days ago

We’re already familiar with Huawei’s Ascend P1, and the next logical step for Huawei is to offer that same experience in an LTE flavor. Huawei has officially announced the upcoming availability of the Ascend P1 LTE in the UK exclusively on the recently announced EE (everything everywhere) network.

Huawei’s Ascend Mate was a pretty highly anticipated device leading up to CES this year, and now Huawei’s made it official. The monster of a phone packs a 720p, 6.1-inch display, a Huawei-manufactured quad-core chip, and an extremely generous 4,050 mAh battery. Because it’s no fun to have a big phone if it dies within three days off the charger, right?

Huawei’s Chairman of Devices, Richard Yu, couldn’t wait any longer and whipped out the upcoming Ascend Mate. The highlight of this beast is the 6.1-inch display that might make the Galaxy Note II look rather small. It also sports a 1.8GHz HiSilicon K3V3 quad-core CPU and a 4.000mAh battery. At 9.9mm of thickness and a price of ¥3,000 (about $480), could this push Huawei over the top?

The highly anticipated Ascend D Quad from Huawei, announced at MWC, has been reported by Chinese website CNMO that the device won’t even start being massed produced until June with a shipping schedule of some time in July.  As Huawei’s first quad-core handset (1.2 GHz), this comes as sort of a bummer.

  Huawei’s D series of devices has received three new additions to it’s family, the Ascend D quad, quad XL and Ascend D1. Each iteration of the Ascend D will come with it’s own differentiations in specifications, appropriate to each tier of model. Details for the Ascend D quad have been released for us to drool upon.

It seems like we have been waiting for the release of the Huawei Ascend Mate for a really long time, but in reality Huawei is not too late in releasing the device relative to some of our earlier projections of a February release date. Huawei has confirmed today the giant phone will be available in the Chinese market on March 21 for 3,120 yuan ($500 USD).

Smartphones with 5-inch screens capable of displaying 1080p video seem to be the sweet spot that several manufacturers are targeting at the moment. Another phone slated for unveiling at CES 2013 is the Huawei Ascend D2.

    Huawei’s Ascend D1 has officially been launched in China. In case you didn’t know, this speedy mid-range phone has a TI OMAP 1.5 GHz dual-core CPU and 1GB RAM, a high-def 4.5-inch, 1280 x 720 high-definition IPS+ display with Corning® Gorilla® Glass and remember that Dolby/Huawei agreement we’d told you about recently?

We have seen quite a bit of chatter about the Huawei Ascend Mate, the smartphone maker’s entry into the supersize phone market. That is not the only device that may be of interest to consumers, especially those looking for something more in line with the size of a traditional smartphone.
