If you don’t recall, HTC hasn’t really engulfed themselves into the tablet business unlike other companies such as Samsung and ASUS. While they have released tablets such as the HTC Flyer and Sprint’s EVO View 4G, neither tablet saw the same success nor popularity that the Galaxy Tab or the Transformer Prime saw. That may very well change with the current leak of the HTC Vertex HD. It’s said to be an Android 4.0+ tablet that will feature NVIDI (IT news)

There is no shortage of tablets for Samsung. They had the first mainstream Android tablet with the Galaxy Tab back in 2010. That was a 7-inch tab and since then, they’ve released the Galaxy Tab 10.1, the Galaxy Tab 8.9, the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus. and the Galaxy Tab 7.7. Samsung has admitted that sales haven’t blown anyone away.

There’s no question that ASUS has become one of the most popular brands for Android tablets in just a short amount of time. The original Transformer had top-notch specs at an affordable price which resulted in short supplies right out of the gate. Android tablets have been around since late 2010 starting with the Samsung Galaxy Tab, but the first mainstream Android tablet was the Motorola XOOM, which debuted in the spring of 2011. Soon after, we saw tablet after tablet after tablet get released, but nothing seemed to gain any major traction.

The above image is yet another teaser from HTC about tomorrow’s event. Now we fully expect to see the HTC One (M7) or whatever they call it, but this image has something interesting. It shows a bunch of devices under black clothes, but the one to the bottom left looks a little bigger. Speculation is running rampant that it could be a tablet, but it could also be some sort of accessory.

The first Samsung Galaxy Note featured a display of 5.3-inches, which many considered half phone half tablet (or phablet). Then came an actual tablet, the Galaxy Note 10.1, sported a 10.1-inch display. Of course more recently the original Note was upgraded to the Galaxy Note II with a slightly bigger display, at 5.5-inches. There has to be a 7-inch tablet in the works right?

The Galaxy Note was a huge success despite many critics saying it was too big. Many wondered if it was a phone or a tablet. Some even called it a phablet, but it didn’t matter because sales were much stronger than anticipated. It’s no surprise that Samsung would try to capitalize on that success by coming out with a full-fledged tablet.

For those of you folks looking to buy a new yet affordable Android tablet, let me clue you in on a great deal that is going on right now. Buy.com is offering a refurbished 16GB HTC Flyer on their website for only $199.99. In case you didn’t know, the Flyer is a 7-inch tablet that currently runs Android 2.3, and of course there is HTC Sense on top of that too.
