Apple’s online store went offline on Thursday evening — sporting the usual “We’ll be back. We’re busy updating the Apple Store for you and will be back soon” missive (h/t to AllThingsD which spotted the store was AWOL).
A few months ago, Samsung opened its doors to their stand-alone ‘Samsung Experience‘ store in Australia. They’ve quickly followed that up by opening another store – this one dubbed the first Samsung Mobile Store – in Paris.
While the tech world has its sights set on the most talked about trial in tech history, Samsung just opened a new Samsung Experience store in Sydney, Australia.
Samsung’s being accused (by Apple) of being a copycat, but that is yet to be decided on by the jury. If there’s one way Samsung could, and should, copy Apple it would be in designing retail stores.
While Apple hasn’t made a peep yet about Vine’s slight porn problem, the App Store has removed the video-sharing app from its Featured Section.
The app launched on Thursday, and found itself in the Featured section of the App Store by Friday.
As we learn more about Apple’s Q1 in 2013, we’ve found out some interesting facts about Apple’s retail stores.
The company says that it has opened 401 stores total, with four new ones in China alone.
The Apple live press event has started, and the first thing Tim Cook wanted to talk about was Apple Retail. He specifically mentioned the opening of a new store in Barcelona, noting that the new addition was one of Apple’s largest. And of course, “it’s absolutely gorgeous,” he said.
The handsomest man in the world, Bre Pettis, gives the second handsomest man in the world, Phil Torrone, a nice visit to the Makerbot Store in Manhattan. The store is now selling Makerbots, filament, as well as pre-made items like watches and toys.
The store is at 298 Mulberry Street.
As Bre notes, they built the store to convince people that 3D printers weren’t all science fiction.
Presumably designed long ago to sneakily land smack-bang on the day that the CES show in Las Vegas starts in earnest, Apple’s “Mac App Store” has finally and officially opened at last, beating Microsoft to any PC App Store punch and set to make Apple a whole lotta extra moolah, no longer just on every sale of hardware, but now on the sale of any and all software through the Mac App Store, too!
At just a year of age, Amazon’s app store is a relative newcomer against both Google Play and Apple’s app store. Yet given Amazon’s prowess in e-commerce plus the Seattle-based company’s willingness to aggressively court top-tier mobile developers, the store has certainly made itself noticed in the app ecosystem.
