Nvidia’s next-generation mobile processor could be a 72-core graphics powerhouse, according to leaded specs reportedly uncovered by Chinese site Chiphell. The specs for the Tegra 4 processor, codenamed Wayne (a designation we’ve heard before), detail a 4-plus-1 battery saving quad-core design like that used in the current Tegra 3 processors.
It looks like the possible successor to the MediaPad Lite made its leaked debut earlier on Twitter thanks to DLNA and @evleaks. The new tablet from Huawei will come in two versions. The first one will sport a quad-core Cortex A9 processor running at 1.2 GHz, with the second one carrying a quad-core Cortex A9 processor running at 1.5 GHz.
ZTE, whose website proclaims is the world’s 4th largest manufacturer, announced the cheapest quad-core smartphone yet. The ZTE U950 packs a 1.3GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM but its most impressive spec is the 999 yuan price (approximately $160 USD).
The low-priced Android device comes with a 4.3-inch display and is only 9mm-thick.
For those of you who think that dual-core is so last year then have I story for you. The video we have here shows the TI dual-core OMAP 5 application processor for mobile devices outpacing the quad-core Tegra 3 processor from Nvidia. For those that don’t know the OMAP 5 sports ARM’s new and improved Cortex-A15 CPU design.
