HTC is almost ready to announce a new Butterfly S smartphone for the China region first. The successor of the HTC Butterfly is expected to be launched on June 19.
The HTC Butterfly, which appears to be a variant of the HTC J Butterfly and the HTC DROID DNA, has surfaced on HTC’s web site. With the slight name change comes a couple other differences. Most notable is the absence of LTE capability.
It looks like consumers in Taiwan interested in grabbing a pink HTC Butterfly will get that opportunity according to Taiwanese website ePrice. Their site is reporting today that HTC is making a pink cherry powder colored HTC Butterfly available on April 30th. According to the site, pre-orders are now being accepted at both Yahoo! and PCHome.
Earlier today, an HTC Butterfly owner was wondering where the Android 4.4 KitKat device was. On Facebook, where the Butterfly owner left his concern, was answered briefly by HTC. The company said the update “should indeed be coming soon, Potchi. Stay tuned.” A great sign for both consumers and HTC as the Butterfly was released in December 2012.
HTC insider and developer @LlabTooFeR has been on a roll tonight, just moments ago hinting that the HTC One Mini was headed to T-Mobile this summer, and now dropping another hint that the HTC Butterfly S will not be headed to Verizon like its predecessor, but will more likely see a launch on Sprint’s network.
