We have various super stack's, mostly 3com 4500 and some 5500 stacks. I know HP now owns this line, so I am hoping someone knows if it's possible to purchase a single HP 4500G for example and replace a failed unit in a stack of 3com 4500's?

In the manual, I was reading something about the stack checks the firmware of the units and makes sure they match.

I configured cisco switch and router. Now I want to configure password mechanism on 3com like Radius. How can I configure radius in 3com?

I have a 3com Baseline Switch 2928 that's connected over fiber to a 3com superstack 4500. The fiber is singlemode and has the suitable SFP modules on both switches.

The switches (and connected devices) have working networking but it's very unstable. Browsing SMB shares is workable but has lots of 'waiting intervals': sometimes opening a folder takes 20 seconds after which everything is back ok.

I am setting up a vlan on my 3com switch. The switch is a 4200g 48 port.

I have set up 3 vlans i have the generic vlan1 and I have created 2 other vlans 2 and 3.

I have manually give them their ip range. However when I connect a device to the ports that have been setup for the vlans it does not connect to the network.

Thank you for looking in to this. I have a desktop pc with 3COM 3CR990-TX-97 and I am running Ubuntu 10 Kernel Version: 2.6.32-24-generic #41-Ubuntu SMP. I'd enabled the module typhoon but I still can't see this card in dmesg and lspci.
