I seem to be having DNS issues --- which I suspect may be client related. At seemly random intervals, name resolution of local FQDN names fails.
There's a warning in the system log:
Name resolution for the name xxxxxxxx.yyy.zzz timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded.
On my mac, I looked at the Mail Connection Doctor and one of the things I noticed was an expiration date for my Parallel Panel self-signed root certificate.
Is that something I have to renew or does it auto renew itself?
I'm using a virtual dedicated server and didn't buy the certificate, it was there by default.
My guest vm cannot get an ip address from my host it kept printing eth0: lease expired x seconds ago. I've tried to start dhclient -r and dhclient and restart eth0 to no avail, see here for more: http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/howto-linux-renew-dhcp-client-ip-address/. How can I get a new lease in my guest?
I bought a song from ubuntu one music store to benefit from the 6 months free promotion.
Will this automatically renew after the 6 months?

EDIT:
We have following setup:
User comes to building, he gets address from range for unknown clients (192.168.100.0/25) and can only get to our web site. We call it anonymous range. Let's say our user acquired address 192.168.100.16 and won§t get past the local network.
Then he must go and register his MAC address and is assigned new fixed IP from 192.168.40.0/22 address range.
For a internally used webbased software, which must be available from everywhere, I have created client certificates which are installed in the browsers of authorized consumers.
Now, with 2012 being over, all of them are expired and need a renewal.
I've given out PKCS #12 certificates (.p12)
Here my questions
Is it possible to extend the client certificate lifetime?
Do I have to reinstall the
I would like to know, if there is a way I could force the DHCP server to renew the IP address of a client machine instantly, without me going to the client machine? In fact, imagine, I don't have access to the client machine.
So, here is my scenario,
The client first gets a Random IP address say A from the DHCP server initially, when it is connected to the LAN.
New release 'oneiric' available.
Run 'do-release-upgrade' to upgrade to it.
2222222-desktop:~$ do-release-upgrade
Checking for a new ubuntu release
No new release found
why does it say there is an upgrade then says it does not find it?
I have been slowly upgrading from 9x to 11.04. I had some issues along the way but nothing google could not help me with.
