Hello, I'm using Ubuntu (mini)12.04 or(lubuntu) with Lxde desktop
I need help getting gnome mplayer to play a video (it doesn't show a video) I have read that "lubuntu" has a bug with mplayer and to use mplayer2.
So I downloaded mplayer2-build-106bf4525ac9ef7a1cf8f1f41664d3be72121e99.tar.bz2
then folowed the instructions from here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=10996224
Thanks for the link. I'll try it out and see what works. On your question, I'm running stock Mplayer2 with no configs edited. If I do add something likeLEFT seek -5
RIGHT seek +5into ~/.mplayer/input.conf, then it still seeks only to 10 seconds (and also, note that I have to put 'joystick=no' into ~/.mplayer/config, or otherwise no keybinding will ever be read).

I just installed smplayer and it's not working! I don't seem to recognise the reason, but it might be something in the lines of 'unrecognised mplayer version' or something. Although, mplayer works. from terminal i'm able to run mplayer and watch movies.

If you like mplayer, you will love SMPlayer and Gnome-Mplayer. Both SMplayer and Gnome-Mplayer are really good MPlayer front-ends and they do work great. SMplayer has long been my favorite multimedia player in Ubuntu and we have even featured SMplayer among the most wanted multimedia apps for Ubuntu.
I am running rooted Evo v and have harmonia can I do s-off with harmonia rom? i read its a very stable and stock rom. just like to know and and ALSO is there any step by step guides to help with the junaopbear guide? I dont wanna mess anything up and a guide step by step like the root guide would be AWESOME
let me know please if a guide exists!
Just for fun I will put a little how-to on using mplayer/mplayer2 for the first timer. But we will stay minimal, no GUI, just the command line.I guess the app is already familiar to you, maybe you use it already with a graphical frontend like SMplayer or Gnome MPlayer etc. to watch movies. But we will be more interested how to use this little player just from our best friend, the CLI.
