Dear All,
I made a fresh xubuntu 9.10 installation on my laptop (amilo pa 3553 fujitsu-siemens,amd64 architecture).
The problem is that the network manager applet does not allow me to enable wireless. I have always had problems with my own wireless card, but I have also tried 2 usb wireless sticks: Belkin Wireless-G USB Adapter and D-link DWL-G122 (allegedly linux-friendly).
Hello everyone,
I have recently installed ubuntu 10.04 LTS on a gateway netbook lt303u. My wireless works perfectly, but for some reason, connecting directly to the ethernet port does not (it doesn't even light up when connected to the laptop).
I have tested the cable on another computer to confirm the internet is working. I have checked that my MAC address is allowed on the network.
I'm new to Linux and I found out that after my installation of Xubuntu 12.04, my wireless card was not being detected by Xubuntu. I found out that there are some drivers that I need to install in order for my wireless card to be detected. I found out that my type of card requires a b43legacy driver. I am wondering how to install these drivers and also where to get the exact file(s).
How does Linux determine which network interface to use, when both are connected to the same network?
Note that this isn't a question on routing. I'm familiar with how that works.
hi,
i'm using a netbook as mentioned, with win 7 installed. Everything works fine with windows.
I need linux for the college, so i decided to install linpus lite 1.7 desktop edition.
Installation was successful, however, my wireless card seems not working.
The card is recognized by the system info as BMC 4313 b/g wireless card, but doesn't search for wireless networks.
I recently bought a Lenovo K23 laptop with which I am much pleased. The wireless card works off a Broadcom proprietary driver, and I eventually figured out how to install that and get wireless.
However, in the process I nuked my ethernet capabilities.
Hey guys, so I just installed 10.04 on my Latitude D600, and neither the Ethernet nor the Wireless card are working. I did a "sudo lspci" in a command window and strangely enough, the Wireless card showed up but the Ethernet did not. I know the Ethernet card works because it was operational in Windows. Any suggestions are welcome.
Please bare with me, I am a ubuntu novice.
Today I downgraded from Ubuntu 10.04 to 9.04 because of easy gdm themeing availabe in 9.04. The OS is installed on my external hard disk (320.1 GB).After installing the first problem I noticed was that my wireless card was not getting detected and my Broadcom Ethernet controller was also not being detected.
