My onboard sound card is gone and my mobo have no place for new pci slot. So I've decided to buy a new usb sound card instead. I am using windows 8.1 so the main problem would be driver support. Do usb sound card need just usb driver or need specific driver support from sound card company? And will there be any sound quality different between pic card and usb card? Thank you :-)
I have a fresh install of openSUSE 11.2 64-bit with all updates installed, however there is no sound from my Xonar DX sound card. In Hardware Information, the sound card is shown as "Virtuoso 100 (Xonar DX)". How would I get my sound card to work?
This is the question about Linux kernel's OSS sound subsystem and its capabilities. I'm working with Linux 2.6 kernels and I have unusual sound card. This card should input and output only 48 kHz signal; and there is no hardware resampling (I can't play 16kHz WAV file on this card).
I just upgraded my sound card to an Asus Xonar DG. Under "playback devices" it recognizes the card, and the volume meter to the right displays that there is sound coming out of the device. My headphones are plugged into the new card itself, yet I'm not hearing any sound.
I have onboard sound that stopped working a long time ago.
So i got a soundblaster card.
Ubuntu picks it up ok, and it is visible in the control panels, but after an apt-get update / upgrade etc. it stops working.
It appears that the update program is not concerned with which sound card device is current.

I have a linux ubuntu 12.04 server machine which works with an usb sound card.
