However, I monitored the memory using top, and it shows that the memory used by my script is increasing over time.
I don't have that many mallocs (maybe a couple), but lots of pointers.
We have a java application where towards the last part of the codes we wrote these lines
Runtime runtime = Runtime.getRuntime();
long memory = runtime.totalMemory() - runtime.freeMemory();
System.out.println("\n\nUsed memory is bytes: " + memory);
What we notice is that over time the top shows increase in the memory(%) column for the application but the java memory(from runtime variables) valu

When creating shared memory in C, should be remove shared memory with shmctl function when don't need it. If it didn't remove, occupied shared memory stay and remain.
If we create shared memory repeatedly without removing unusable shared memory, /dev/shm will full.
Does Unix or Linux distributions do action to them?
On my Windows 2008 R@ box, I have setup "Max Available Memory" in the advanced options to 4GB. But I have 8GB of memory available. Can I increase the "Max Available Memory" to make use of all available memory without rebooting the server?

Why memory utilization on solaris always looks high?

Memory in solaris is used for I/O cache, so if there is no memory in used, memory will be used by I/O cache.
Hi ya i routed my galaxy ace a while ago and decided to increase the memory so i used a partitioning tool & used ext2 however my phone has become slower and slower i used a check tool to see if i can increase the rom but it said no? So please help me it's painfully slow. Also when i connected to kies it told me to update the firmwire but i could'nt because it's rooted so what do i do ?
