How to turn off Empathy in GNOME 3 / F17

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I installed Empathy and set up a couple of my IM accounts. It worked great. However, even when I shut down Empathy, it appears that the GNOME 3 desktop is somehow starting it up again in the background and logging into my IM accounts. I get notifications related to IM, etc. Is there any way short of uninstalling Empathy to actually turn it off and make GNOME 3 not connect to my IM accounts? I'd really like to use it but only when I want to - I don't want GNOME 3 keeping it logged in all the time. Like most of GNOME 3, I find this non-intuitive and just plain baffling. Can anyone enlighten me (HowTos)

I don't understand how works the notification integrated system in gnome 3.4? I 've set-up onlin accounts and turn on the notifications for Empathy and evolution. Howevern I receive no notifications for contacts connections or incoming mails while empathy or evolution were not launched. Maybe I've failed in notifications set-up

Someone could help me or guide me please?

Hi there,After last upgrade to gnome 3.6 empathy fails to connect to google talk using GOA credentials.Of course I can configure a talk account directly in empathy but... I would prefer to use a single sign on (with gnome online accounts).Does any one has this same problem?... Any clues?Best,M

After updating to Gnome 3.8 Empathy will no longer connect to Facebook throwing up an "internal error" message. Downgrading to empathy 3.6 fixes the issue immediately, although the issue appears to be caused by gabble as switching on Facebook disables all other gabble accounts and seems to segfault-close gabble altogether.

Hello everybody.I'm used to have my skype contacts in empathy thanks to telepathy-haze and skype4empathy.But since the gnome 3.8 (and so empathy) update, that doesn't work anymore.

For consistency between Skype and Empathy, I'd like to put Empathy into the bottom messaging bar in Gnome 3 (Gnome Shell, if you will). Is there a way to do this?

(I use Gnome 3.4, although answers for any version are welcome.)

Problem

cant connect to facebook and google accounts in empathy and Online Accounts under empathy when trying to log in it just returns "disconnected--no reason specified" everything was working pretty fine about a week ago with f17

under online accounts selecting any service returns unable to load page, problem occured while loading url ...

I just upgraded from 12.04 to 12.10. The thing was though, my previous install was 32 bit, while I downloaded a 64 bit for the 12.10. Anyway, I installed and as predicted, compatibility issues were a-plenty. After re-installing AwesomeWm and Gnome and configuring everything again, I noticed that notifications don't show.
