Hello everyone, I am a total VMware and Ubuntu noob, and I am stuck in a rather interesting mess.
I downloaded the Ubuntu 12.04 iso for my VMware Player 3. Here's what I did:Made a virtual machine with no ISO file, selected Linux (Ubuntu) (to install VMware tools).
VM starts up, as usual prompts me to download tools for ubuntu.
VMware tools get downloaded and installed without hiccups.
How to export virtual machine from VMWare Workstation 8 to another physical computer with installed VMWare Workstation 8? i.e. how to move snapshots between different instances of VMWare Workstation 8?
Virtual machine host's Linux CentOS.
Assume, source and target machines with installed WMWare are both run on Windows.
I have Core i5 with 8 GB Memory and 500GB of HDD. I am new to VMWare; and I need to make virtualization a permanent work habit for me. Mainly because of ease of Virtual HDD and usage of OS Images. I want to get VMWare installed on a Host and setup different OS's on it. What should be the base/host OS to install VMWare on? I am comfortable with Linux as well.
VMware Workstation is VMware’s commercial virtualization software for x64 computers. This is a Type 2 hypervisor, which means it is installed on top of an existing operating system running on the computer hardware called the host operating system. It can be installed on both Linux and Windows host Operating Systems.
