Ever since Apple launched its voice-driven personal assistant Siri, a slew of clones have appeared on the scene. Most of these, however, clearly show that Siri was the result of a massive research project that isn’t easy to replicate. Maluuba, which is launching at TechCrunch Disrupt today, is the closest thing I’ve seen to a viable Siri competitor on Android.

Dexetra, the company behind the Siri-like Android app Iris and the activity-tracking app Friday, is merging the two apps to work together more seamlessly on Android devices.

Apple has poached an Amazon exec to take over its Siri department, according to a new report from AllThingsD’s Kara Swisher.

For those Android users wanting a more Siri-like experience on their devices, the time may be now. Nuance announced today a beta for their new application called Dragon Mobile Assistant. Using your voice, the app will assist in booking appointments, texting, updating Facebook and Twitter, getting directions, finding businesses, and checking the weather.

Video sharing startup Vilynx launched to enable its users to quickly and easily manage videos that they have shot and stored across multiple devices. Linking in to a wide range of cloud storage devices, and with a ready stable of mobile apps, the company hopes to make users’ personal video assets easily accessible wherever they are.
