I am tryign to setup 2 networks for 2 rooms in my company. The first network is for upstairs and the second network is for downstairs. Upstairs users won't be able to see data in downstairs users computer (vice versa). Every computer is in the same subnet with static ip.
I moved to my new dorm. But there is no wifi there, just a single ethernet cable for each room.
after doing a lot of research I am even more confused about what the best setup would be for my new house and I would appreciate any help.
Thanks
Tim
My default situation is this:

Any help welcome before I smash my laptop and/or my router :)I have a Billion wired/wireless residential router connected to ADSL. Wireless with WPA is setup and working fine for ages. An Acer laptop with Windows Vista and a Samsung Galaxy phone can happily connect to the router over wireless in a room a few meters away from the router. My laptop (Acer Aspire 4710) with #!
This is a little project I'm doing at home.
I wanted to wire two rooms together (basically, the router is one room, and the switch is in the second room).
So I ran a CAT5 between the two rooms, and wired an RJ45 jack in each room.
I then hooked up the two jacks with two CAT5 cable to run it through the cable tester, and all 8 wires seem good.
Now, when I connect the switch and the router, the conn
I am a bit new to vlan, so forgive me if I ask noob question.
I am trying to setup a vlan on my netgear switch (GS105E). I want to create 2 separated networks and I want both of them have internet access.
My setup is
Modem
connect to
router WRT54G (with dd-wrt)
connect to
netgear switch
I have configured port 1 and port 5 as vlan1 and port 2 to port 4 as vlan2.
I get my internet from a cable modem thru Comcast. My house has a smart panel with 8 LAN ports, each going to the 8 rooms in my house. The cable modem links directly to an 8-port hub which allows 8 lines to feed each of the 8 ports in the house's smart panel... so every room has a live ethernet wall jack.
In room #1, I have a netgear wifi router connected to the wall jack.
Hi everyone,
I'm currently attempt to setup a transparent proxy between my linksys router and my wifi access point.
The hardware setup like the following

On the Ubuntu PC, eth0 is connected to the router, eth1 is connected to the switch
I'm using Outlook 2010, and our Exchange Administrators have mailboxes set up for many of the meeting rooms available at our facilities. However, it would seem they don't have any Room Lists configured. (I gather this because I do not see the "Show a room list" drop-down menu.
