i just installed ubuntu 12.10 alongside windows 7 but now my computer automatically boots to ubuntu. i want windows 7 as my default operating system. when i start up my laptop it shows me no settings or any screen asking me what operating system to use.
Hello!
I have always used Windows, but recently I realised how much Ubuntu is better. I have been using Ubuntu for around two months and I wanted to make it my default OS. I still need Windows for some tasks, so I left it installed.
I came across a nice program called EasyBCD to configure my boot options. I set Ubuntu to default.
I have finally got my dual boot working - I was always pure Ubuntu before but now I need Windows for work. I've even got the heat under control from my ATI chipset - better than in Windows. But...
When I switch on my computer the boot menu comes up.
Hi,
I have been using ubuntu alongside windows for many of these years right from 6.06 days.
I installed ubuntu via Wubi. So the computer should boot and screen should show me the Boot options (Windows/ubuntu).Am i right ??
For the past 2 months, I have been facing this problem.
Hello people of ServerFault,
I have installed a WIndows 8 evaluation about a week ago. Usually, it asks me every time I turn on my computer whether to boot into windows 8 or windows 7. The default was windows 8 after 30 seconds. I changed that just yesterday to be default windows 7 after 5 seconds. And after I changed the setting, I went ahead and went into windows 8 and did my work.
I have a computer with 2 operating systems dual booted: One is Windows 7 and the other is Ubuntu. My Ubuntu installation is installed within the Windows partition via wubi.exe.
I'm not using grubby, but windows 7's default bootloader.
I have always wondered how I would set the default boot loader to Windows' boot loader instead of grub being the default one? I assume I use something like EasyBCD but I just thought I'd ask before risking damaging my system.
Thanks!
I just got an HP Envy dv7 series laptop which came with Windows 8. I used Windows tools to remove the recovery drive and shrink the main windows partition to make room for Fedora 18. The installation process for Fedora went reasonably smoothly and I now have a system with a working Fedora and Windows 8 both booting with Secure Boot enabled.
I recently installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS alongside Windows 7 using Ubuntu's Startup disk creator and installation completed without any difficulties or errors.
Now when I try to boot, it directly boots with Windows and shows no option to choice as to which Operating System to load. But when I boot using that same pen drive with which I installed Ubuntu, it shows an OS selection screen.
