How To run Gedit and Subl commands in the background?

http://askubuntu.com – If I use Gedit or Subl (sublime text) commands in the terminal to open a file, I can't do anything else in the terminal until I close the text editor. How can I fix this? (HowTos)

I just created a symbolic link to sublime:

$ sudo ln -s /opt/SublimeText2/sublime_text /usr/bin/subl

The problem is that it opens the last project and the open I want:

$ subl my-project

or

$ ~/my-project/subl .

Both commands open Sublime Text 2 but twice, so I have two ST2 running.

How to solve this?

I use the sublime text 2 text editor for developing in Ubuntu. When I want to open a file form the command line i need to type sublime-text-2 .

For some reason a while back, the behavior of my command line changed, and I don't know why.

I've installed Sublime Text using this method and the installation seems to have went through just fine.

However, I can't seem to run sublime as a normal user. I can only get it to run when I run it as sudo.

sudo subl foo.txt <-- This works

subl foo.txt <-- This doesn't work
