I want to get involved with Ubuntu and I've decided to join the Bug Squad. Launchpad tells me that I have to some OpenPGP Fingerprint key, and I followed instructions from this link:
https://launchpad.net/+help-registry/openpgp-keys.html#publish
All goes fine, I enter all the necessary information, and it starts generating the key.
I'm creating a LiveCD from this guide and came across a line I do not understand:
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 12345678 #Substitute "12345678" with the PPA's OpenPGP ID.
wondered if anyone can explain what should I substitue 12345678 with and how to obtain it
many thanks for any direction or idea,
Lior

Wondering what people are using nowadays to sign emails and keys with in OpenPGP if you decided to use SHA2 instead of SHA1. Are you using Sha-256 or Sha-512?
I've read a few places that SHA-512 is faster than 256 on 64-bit CPUs. I assume 512 is more secure as well because its longer and has more passes (64 vs 80) than 256.
I dont understand how to confirm lauchpad openpgp key ; i found mail from launchpad ;but now i dont know how to validate this key. I also found validation using "enigmail" ; but its not clear to me.
I'm not ashamed to be a part of Ubuntu, but I'm trying to keep the number of web search hits for my real name low, which is kinda impossible if you use a Launchpad account.
So, I'm wondering if there is a real name policy in the Ubuntu community, or if it's okay to use a pseudonym/nick name/fake name?
While it might be okay to use nicks on IRC and in forums, how about those topics:
