Hello,
I am really new to Ubuntu and am running 12.04 on a Dell Inspiron 1300 laptop.
As the title says I would like to stop this screen dimming, I use my laptop mostly on battery power
I have read lots of posts including this one....
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...top+screen+dim
some of the suggestions I just have no idea how to do !
Changing the settings has no effect
When your Ubuntu laptop is running on battery, the screen will dim when it is idle in order to save power.
I updated to jellybean now whenever I'm watching videos on YouTube or on the browser have no tried my actual videos on phone the screen blacks out during the video.
Is there a way to prohibit Powerdevil from messing with the screen brightness?
I already tried to disable the tick box "Let PowerDevil manage screen powersaving" but that does not fix it. It still controls brightness.
How do I stop my default browser from dimming when opened.
I use opera mini but I'm starting to use the default browser, only thing that really buggs me is that it's very dull and annoying when using it.

I run awesome WM on Ubuntu
Recently when I try and watch full screen youtube videos they have been playing in a small letter box - They have not 'full screened'
Vimeo & Dailymotion videos still fullscreen correctly.
This is NOT the problem of a youtube video appearing 'behind' the browser.
I installed mmuzzy 4.2.1 ROM on my phone and have been quite happy with it. The only problem I have is that the screen dims after about 30 seconds and I can't find a brightness setting that will allow me to disable this feature. Does anyone have a way to turn this off?
I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, and while using Ubuntu (unity 3d) full screen video playback is very choppy. This includes, VLC, movie player, and to a lesser extent youtube videos. However, not all video playback is choppy: smaller-sized or windowed videos run smoothly.
I have noticed that when I am watching videos on my Galaxy note 2 N7100 that the screen brightness will jump from whatever it is set at to a higher brightness and jump back immediately after. Its like its flickering between brightnesses even when auto brightness is off and set to full and smart stay is off, it manages to jump up and down and is quite annoying whilst enjoying a video.
