I'm using CentOS 6.5 with Cobbler 2.4 (from EPEL). I'm trying to use a heredoc comment to create a repo file (which works) without the $basearch being interpreted. What happens is the file is created except $basearch is replaced with nothing (e.g.
Now that I have created my local yum repo I want centos to first look for package under the local repo first and if its not there then its should go and check on the internet. I tried checking the /etc/yum.conf like may be changing some priority level but it doesn't seems to be there.
I have a situation where the stock repo files that should exist in /etc/yum.repos.d/ (like centos-base.repo) are not present. I need to get them installed. I am sure this is simple, but after hours of searching, it seems I am not googling it correctly.
Basically I have a server with custom repos that are useless to me. I need epel, and epel needs centos-base.repo.
What I did was, I had the remi repo installed, and and installed mysql-server, mysql, libmysql, and many php-*, like php-pdo,php-mysql etc. So I wanted to revert to the base repo for these. So I removed the remi repo. And uninstalled all of theses packages, and reinstalled them using the yum coming from the base repo.
When I fire up the virtualbox VM Centos starts as I would expect, but
when I try to use yum list updates (or any of several other yum
command I've tried) I get a repo error - "
