How to optimise Unity for dual monitor with overlap

view story

http://askubuntu.com – I'm using a touchscreen and external monitor to occasionally sketch some drawings on the touchscreen. If I need the touch screen I switch it on with a simple xrandr command. xrandr including rotation, touchscreen etc. I have working nicely by now. There is one annoyance remaining: Unity shows its components twice on the external monitor, thereby distorting the background, the unity top bar and the unity side bar, see image below: Through CCSM's Unity plugin I've been able to remove the duplicate side bar (similar to How can I remove duplicate second Unity Launcher on a Dual Screen setup?)
