Hello. I'm currently having ubuntu 10.10, which works fine, except that on one specific connection at my school, it's disconnecting all the time. About 5-6 times each hour. It depends on how long it takes for it to reconnect, from 3 seconds to 2 minutes. I also have a connection at home, which works without problems.
Every so often when I boot my notebook, and initiate the network connection like so:sudo ip link set wlan0 up
sudo wpa_supplicant -B -i wlan0 -Dwext -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.confwait for ten secondssudo dhcpcd wlan0dhcpcd polls, then connects fine. But, after about 10-20 seconds, the connection drops. 10-20 seconds later, it's back up. This becomes apparent when I ping a site,
I have an internet connection that is flaky; when it goes bad, there are things that can be done to restore it, so I've made a connection monitoring script to figure out if my connection is gone or not and take action.
I've set up a VPN to allow me to access work files from home, but I'm having constant connection issues.
Home machine: Windows 7 Home Premium (v6.1, build 7600)
Home router: SpeedTouch 780, firmware 6.1.4.3
Work machine: Ubuntu Server 11.04 running pptpd
Work router: Thomson Gateway TG585 v7, firmware 8.2.2.5
From my machine at work I can make a VPN connection across the network with no problems
I am having a problem connecting to wired connection from router. I used to have 11.10 where I tried to establish DSL connection. I tried it doing through the terminal using some pppoeconf commands.
When I reboot my system, under the Ubuntu loading sign, I saw messages like
configuring network; wait 60 seconds more for connection, etc.
Then after 2-3 minutes, Ubuntu home screen appears.
OS Ubuntu 12.04 32-bit with the latest fixes to date.
I've long had this VPN set up. It had been working flawlessly until about a week ago when it started to unexpectedly disconnect.
I use Unity and NetworkManager. I click on NM -> VPN Connections -> <VPN Connection Name> and it connects without fail every time.
Connection to Internet stops when connected to wired Internet using network manager.
Ubuntu 12.04.
I have managed to lose the internet connection on a redhat linux server (it was able to connect to the internet previously). I'm thinking it dropped out after I entered the command 'service NetworkManager start'. Network manager was not running before (I was trying to work out how VPN can be configured on linux).
I have since restarted the server, but still no internet connection.
Hi,
Ever since I have installed 12.04 (clean install not an upgrade), i have been having a drop in the Internet connection. The drop in the connection can be anything from 15 seconds to about 3 mins, and then the connection comes back.
