Well if you say that it is not configurable, so it is. I was interested in this for newly inserted usb key (fstab works only for fixed media that we can clearly identify when we put the entry). In fact KDE, in my configuration, does not automount the media, it mount them when I click on the icon: this is a good behaviour. I believe it uses udisk2 but I am not sure.
You can specify the mount point in fstab. Or it will get mounted at /mnt/UUID. Without auto-mount, it should appear in Thunar and you can click to mount. Or do it on the command line. You can list devices at any time using a variety of commands. Or just look under /dev. Block devices like hard drivers can be found in /dev/block, USB devices in /dev/bus/usb.
i have installed windows 8.1 and ubuntu on my new computer, and get the following error when i try to mount the device. I already googled and turned all the hibernation / fastboot options off, but i still have this problem. The option secure boot is disabled in the UEFI-BIOS aswell. Does anyone have an idea, what might cause the problem?
Well I've given up on searching. I've tried setting up using the settings manager for removeable drives and media, ticked all in storage to mount. In the multimedia section I have ticked the "play cd when inserted". In the command line of multimedia, I've tried "vlc cdda://sr0/" and "vlc -vvv cdda://sr0/", but none of these do anything, even after reboot.
