I'm running Windows XP with all the latest patches.
I downloaded Wubi to my computer, installed it and ran wubi. Wubi downloaded the Ubuntu (I assume it was the 12.10 release) file and extracted the Ubuntu files. Next, it asked to restart the computer.
If I install Ubuntu via Wubi, I would like to still use Windows for many things, like playing some games not available on Ubuntu.
While using Ubuntu, if I encountered an executable that would normally infect Windows, would anything happen to the host Windows operating system?
Would Windows have the virus that I downloaded, or are the two operating systems completely separated?

Hi,
I would like to install Ubuntu 12.04 on my computer from Windows using Wubi, but I have a problem with it. Firstly I mount a CD image in a virtual drive via Daemon tool. Next I start Wubi, fill all installation fields, and then I click next. Then Wubi starts to extract files, etc.
I'm an Ubuntu newbie and I'm using it for the first time. During the installation I chose install Ubuntu over Windows, thinking that this will keep the partitions and install Ubuntu on the partition where the Windows was installed (C:) and keep the other one (D:) with all the files on it. After I installed I couldn't find the D:\ partition.
I have a problem that I haven't been able to find a solution to. I recently decided to switch from Windows to Ubuntu I originally installed ubuntu using the wubi installer for windows.
Hi I am new to Ubuntu. I am running Ubuntu 11.10 through Wubi. I have windows 7 installed as well. There are few games installed in windows which have shortcuts in my windows desktop folder.
I can view my windows file systems from Ubuntu by going to file System>Host(which takes me to my C drive).
I recently installed the latest ubuntu, and installed it as a windows partition. But for some reason my windows files have not been mounted. I run Windows XP as well. Any ideas how I will be able to force mount the files? It may have a problem with the wubi.
Hi,
I'm a newbie to ubuntu and jhave just installed it. Last night i booted it up and went looking for my pictures, music doccuments etc on my hard disk.
I have 3 partitions on my HD: Windows, Ubuntu 12.10 (just installed), & Swap. When I boot the computer into Ubuntu, the side bar shows the Windows partition as mounted and it appears as a "folder" in the list of other folders in "File System". I would like the boot to NOT mount Windows, and to have Windows shown in the Side bar (as it did in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS as "OS").
