How to make a Python script runs as trivial linux command with Distutils?

http://stackoverflow.com – I need to run python module as trivial Linux command without worrying about the location of the file. Can I do it with Distutils? Specific about what I need. A user should do simple installation and be able to use it: python setup.py install mymodule --arg value How to do it? (HowTos)

Im new to linux but i like it more than windows. Im trying to install keryx to download update packages for my laptop which i install ubuntu on it yesterday. but while install the setup.py. terminal gives a url which it says that i should install it.

I'm looking to create a rpm for this tarball and couldn't figure out which files needed to be included in the package after the install. I am used to compiling some code and including the binary output; however, since this is all python and seems to use distutils to install everything is there even bin/executable to include in the package?

I want to install onboard (=fantastic virtual keyboard) on F17 (64 bit), works perfectly under ubuntu.

I am using Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit, and started learning python today.(I tried to install a pirate version of MATLAB but failed...) I have a linear programming problem to solve, and I want to use lp_solve module for Python. I tried for 1~2 hours to find the download file and install the module.

I am not sure if I downloaded a right thing, and I could not install it until now.

How can I install this?

I want to install python 3.1 on my fedora 11. I tried using yum update python command but it says no packages marked for update the current version is 2.6 which file should i download from www.python.org and where do i save it ? also how to install it ?

I am trying to install Python 3.2 and mod_wsgi on my web server, but I am not having much luck.

I've just started looking at Python today. At the moment I have a shell script which just runs a lot of commands, installs things, does apt-get update, apt-get install blah blah, configures some software and runs some system commands.

I'd like to tidy this up and distribute this as a Python script.

I have installed Python 2.7 but still kept Python 2.4. When I enter the command python, it runs python 2.4 and I want to keep it this way. But how to I set Django to use /usr/local/bin/python2.7 when it runs?

I downloaded python 3.3.0 which is latest version and i finished installing now I want to run it in my centOS linux but when i type it in console "python" , python 2.7.0 which is bundled with os installation runs. how can i change it to run 3? I vaguely feel that i have to change the code about path in bin folder or something
