I created the USB following instructions from http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows with another PC running Windows.
When I turn my notebook on, it only shows the following options:
1 - Load FreeDOS with maximum RAM free, using EMM386
2 - Load FreeDOS including HIMEM XMS-memory driver
3 - Load FreeDOS without drivers
Enter a choice: [ ]
F5=Bypass startup files F8=C
I am looking at this:

I need to create a boot disk to test Ubuntu to make sure it will run on a PC (Compaq Mini CQ10-120LA) I was given. I can create the boot disk off of a Mac (in English) or Windows (but Windows is in Spanish and foreign to me).
Questions:
1) What format do I choose for the USB stick?
Hi,first post here...
working on a friend's 2005 HP nx6110 (Celeron 1.50GHz) upgrade from XP to Ubuntu 9.10
Getting "random" crashes and boot failures with memory paging error messages, that I can't seem to find now in the logs. Sorry.
Hello guys,
I am a windows 7 (64 bit) user and wanted to try out Ubuntu on my laptop.
I downloaded Ubuntu Desktop 12.04LTS (64 bit) on my USB and and followed http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/...ick-on-windows to create a bootable USB stick.
I installed Ubuntu 10.04 alongside Windows XP a few weeks back, then today I shrank the Windows partition by 1 Gb and installed Freedos between them. But it doesn't show up when the boot menu comes up. I've got Ubuntu generic, Ubuntu recovery and Windows XP, but no Freedos. Any ideas?
I've downloaded the Ubuntu 12.10 iso and followed the instructions on http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows. After I tried the usb disk I got to the Ubuntu live menu, but after choosing run live ubuntu the systems freezes and restarts itself. I've tried this on a Lenovo T61p, an HP pavilion and an Acer Aspire One; all the same results.
Okay, so I've made a Bootable USB Stick using theese instructions: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows
Now I have no idea what to do next to install it. Please help
Hi there,
I'm formatting my computer and I really don't want to download Windows again! Can I just install Ubuntu 12.10 independently or do I need to have Windows installed first?
If I can download Ubuntu independently, how I can create a bootable USB stick to load it from?
Thanks a lot for your help.
Best,
Moe
Am trying to boot from a usb stick.
