When I run cheese in terminal, it gives following message and cheese comes up with black screen, and nothing works in it.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Hi everyone,recently the application Cheese has stopped working for me. I run it from the command line, a bunch of errors spring up, the application window pops up, I can see my past pictures, but it is just black in the space where it would normally show what's my machine's built in webcam is seeing.
When I run cheese in terminal, it gives following message and cheese comes up with black screen, and nothing works in it.

I have a problem getting my webcam to work. It works neither no cheese nor with skype. This is on linux-mint 14 Nadia, almost-fresh install.
lsusb shows this:

which was installed via Synaptics with all the recommended dependencies,

I have a Logitech C510 webcam connected to my desktop running 64-bit Ubuntu 11.10, but it doesn't seem to be working when I run Cheese and Skype. After doing some search, it seems this webcam should just work out of the box. However, Cheese and Skype don't seem to work with it.
Cheese, a Photobooth-inspired GNOME application for taking pictures and videos from a webcam which also includes graphical effects based on the gstreamer-backend, is now at version 3.6 RC.
I got have two Lifecam VX-2000's and they don't work in cheese anymore.
I don't know if it's a problem with a missing package, or a package I installed.
