How to install VirtualBox Guest Additions to Fedora Client

http://www.liberiangeek.net – If you’re reading this blog then you’re at the point where you’ve already installed a clean copy of Fedora (any version) in VirtualBox and want to take advantage of VirtualBox guest machine and host integration. At this point you already know how suck it can be when your guest machines and host are not integrated. You have to always press the ‘right Ctrl’ key every time you need to jump from the guest machine to the host machine.   Without guest integration, you’ll notice the guest machine screen is small and can’t expand, you can’t share folders with the host machine and the guest machine runs pretty slow.     To install guest addition in Fedora, power on the guest machine.   1) Go to Devices –> Install Guest Additions. Next click Cancel at the autorun.     2) Next click on Applications –> System tools –> Terminal.     3) Run the following commands in order to install the required packages su root yum groupinstall "Development Tools" yum install kernal-devel gcc yum install kernel-headers   4) After installing the above packages you can then install the guest additions software.   cd /media/VBOXADDITIONS_3.1.2_56127 sh VBoxLinuxAddition-x86.run   5) If everything goes ok as it supposed to then well done. If not, run the below command to troubleshoot.   rpm -qa *kernel*   If your kernel is PAE, run the follow command to install a PAE kernel version for your system.   yum install kernel-PAE-devel   Try installing guest additions again. This time it should work.   Have a great day and come back soon. Join the forum discussion on this post — (1) Posts (HowTos)
