Samba4 init script. My configure prefix was /opt/samba4 (as in aur package). So if you have configured default location, please change this path to /usr/local/samba in script./etc/rc.d/samba4:#!/bin/bash
I have recently upgraded to samba 4 from samba 3.5 on a RHEL 6.3 platform. It is pleasing that the new version can replace AD DC and has it's own built it kdc and ldb database. Now my intention is to make linux boxes authenticate to samba4 by connecting through ldap as samba 4 works like a kerberized ldap server.
If you installed Samba 4 from git using my previous tutorial ( http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2146198 ),
you might have noticed that it doesn't contain a self starting script so you have to start it manually everytime you reboot your server.
Here is how to do to have it starting automatically:
I am running Ubuntu as a server, but with X-windows setup. I have SSH , Samba and RAID 5 setup. Was having trouble browsing Samba shares from my Windows 7 laptop, so I thought it might be a problem with the version of Samba and started installing Samba4.
Well, Samba4 was whole another bucket worms. I managed to get the install process to partially finish.
I just installed Ubuntu server 12.04 on my pentium 4 computer, the install went great and I only choose to install samba from the list of software. When I try the samba -v command it says that samba is not installed, but if I try to edit the conf file using vi /etc/samba/smb.conf it works and the file comes up.
