What I am trying to do:
... is get LAM to manage my Samba4 setup.
As far as I know I need to get LAM to connect to the LDAP backup of Samba4.
I run a small home server and have never had a problem setting up a Samba server for my Mac clients. Since upgrading to 14.04 (with Samba4) I have been unable to connect from either OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) or the new 10.10 (Yosemite) beta.
I've search all over the net for a guide to setting up a simple file server with Samba4 or a way to downgrade to Samba3.
I have recently upgraded to samba 4 from samba 3.5 on a RHEL 6.3 platform. It is pleasing that the new version can replace AD DC and has it's own built it kdc and ldb database. Now my intention is to make linux boxes authenticate to samba4 by connecting through ldap as samba 4 works like a kerberized ldap server.
I have a windows 7 laptop running VirtualBox with an ubuntu 12.04 VM. I'd like to access unbuntu files from my PC (this is a test, as my files are actually on a Ubuntu server machine but I don't want to mess that up yet).
I am trying to use Samba (standalone) for this ... which means samba4.
