to play video file i want to install totem(movie player) first of all i remove totem-mozplugin totem-plparser
after that when i try to install the following----
yum install totem-xine totem-xine-mozplugin totem-xine-plparser libdvdcss libdvdnav libdvdplay xine-lib-extras-nonfree rhythmbox.i386 0:0.10.0-8.fc9
I am a huge fan of totem and mplayer and prefer their sound to other applications. I want to setup my multimedia library in such a way that when I play any multimedia file it should be played in totem/mplayer.
PS: I use Ubuntu 11.10.
PPS: I would really appreciate if I could get most of the functionalities of softwares such as Banshee and Rhythmbox if not all.
Video (formerly Totem), the official movie player of the GNOME desktop environment based on Gstreamer that features a playlist, a full-screen mode, seek and volume controls, as well as keyboard navigation, is now at version 3.8.2.This is actually the first maintenance release for Video (Totem).
When I try playing DVD's in Media Player/Totem the video is choppy and does not sync with the audio. When I started looking at it in detail I see Totem is using up 95% of the CPU which kind of explains it doesn't it. But it still shouldn't be doing this.
when I play mp3 with the totem movie player it asks for ID3 tag demuxer
this problem started after updating gstreamer
same is the case of rhythmbox
please help me
Video (formerly Totem), the official movie player of the GNOME desktop environment based on Gstreamer that features a playlist, a full-screen mode, seek and volume controls, as well as keyboard navigation, is now at version 3.6.3.
This is the third maintenance release in the stable 3.6.x branch and it comes with just a few minor modifications.
Hey all.
I tried to remove the totem-mozilla package in Lenny, because I know totem dosn't work regarding online video... It will remove gnome as well?!
I have installed VLC and the package mozilla-plugin-vlc.
Now my question is: How to make VLC the default player in Iceweasel instead of Totem? So the likes of youtube etc.
Why does Ubuntu come with Totem set as default? Is there a reason or am I just wrongly assuming everybody thinks Totem is actually inferior to VLC?
Edit: not to mention VLC is vastly known as perhaps the best video player for Windows, which would help with a smoother transition to Windows users making the switch.
I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.10 and did sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get update.
Then I installed ubuntu-restricted-extras, audacious and vlc from Software Center. After that I tried launch Totem Movie player but in terminal following error comes up:
(totem:9295): Gdk-ERROR **: The program 'totem' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program.
