Preparation:   Apart from ensuring you actually have gnome-shell installed, the first thing need to do is installing gnome-tweak-tool and gnome-shell-extensions-user-theme. Press Ctrl+Alt+T to launch terminal, and type in this command to install gnome-tweak-tool (Advance Settings): sudo apt-get install gnome-tweak-tool Run this 3 commands to install user theme extension: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ferramroberto/gnome3 sud (HowTos)

Use User Theme Extension and Gnome Tweak Tool to switch Gnome Shell themes. Gnome Tweak Tool can be installed from Ubuntu Software Center.

I'm trying to install themes with gnome tweak, and I need to install gnome-shell-extensions-user-theme because otherwise I cannot see the shell extensions tab. However, I cannot install shell extensions.

I switched from Unity to Gnome 3.4 but I'd like to tweak my desktop a bit. I want to use a gnome shell theme but the gnome tweak tool won't allow me to modify the gnome shell themes. I've read somewhere that if I reinstall the gnome-shell then it would conflict with Unity and I wouldn't be able to safely use Unity anymore. Is there a way to change the theme without reinstalling the gnome-shell?

I'm experiencing some problems with Ubuntu Gnome Remix 12.10 64bits.

My gnome-tweak-tool doesn't apply themes properly. For the gkt themes, I noted that they are not fully applied. For example, I select Elementary's gtk theme and the window's border (metacity?) still with Adwaita. The theme also looks weird, what led me to believe that there was some engine missing, but that wasn't the case.

I cant seem to install the gnome-tweak-tool gnome-shell-extensions-user-theme in Ubuntu 11.10 w gnome shell 3.3 Im a total Linux/Ubuntu noob what info do you need? thanks in advance:KS

Here is the situation. Changed unity shell to gnome shell. Installed the gnome tweak tool, installed the shell extension, themes, etc...everything i normally need to do that is installed

When i go to gnome tweak tool, and click on shell extension, the right list is empty
