Recently, I bought a HP 2000 Notebook PC and it came with Windows 8 pre-installed on it. And I want to get rid of Windows, but for the life of me, I can't get this laptop to work with me.
I downloaded Ubuntu 12.10 (64 bit) and burned it to a dvd. I changed the boot order, so that basically everything except for the OS is suppose to boot first, but this laptop still won't boot the dvd.
I need to install ia32-libs & ia32-libs-gtk in order to use Adobe Air applications. I run into one issue specifically, requiring a 32-bit libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0. I'm not sure if the Air applications would run with only the SO and not the libs, but do work fine with the libs. I bought an akai mpk mini for music editing on my ubuntu laptop. Since it is a windows application, I used wine to run it, and it ran smoothly until recently. When mapping controls, I would have to click the "Upload" button to have the controller update its mapped commands. It would say "Upload Successful" if it worked.
I cannot install ia32 libs no matter how hard I try. Here is the error I get:

I need to manually install the drivers for my graphics card, which is an ATI 2600 xt. But I am using a 64-bit platform and to do so i need the ia32-libs package. i have scoured the net for fixes, workarounds etc. but have found none that work. the output i get after trying apt-get is:

I tried installing the ia32 libs by opening up a terminal and entering the following:
sudo apt-get install ia32-libs
But I was asked to put in a [sudo] password.
I tried to type in something but nothing would show up.
Please help me!
