So I created all of the partitions on my laptop and had it dual booting nicely. About two days ago, lubuntu wanted to load only on CLI and while I was trying to fix this I broke something and it did not want to let me log in graphically. So while trying to reinstall Lubuntu I accidentally told it to use the whole hard drive.
i installed ubuntu to try over win. 7 and i honestly dont like it. i dont want 7 back but i bought a coppy of xp i want to put on. i tried to install it like every outher os i have worked with but it just comes up with windows has been shut down after the windows installer says starting windows. i really just want to completely get rid of this os on my labtop and put on xp.
Since many programs that I need only work on XP, I need to install Windows XP on my 2 laptops but I can't use an optical drive, which makes using a USB the only option.
If it helps, I can tell you that I used to have Vista and Windows 7 on my 2 laptops but I clean installed Ubuntu 12.04 on one, and Lubuntu on the other.
I've just installed Lubuntu 12.10 on an old laptop (IBM ThinkPad 600X). However, after booting Lubuntu, everything looks like in negative (eg. colors are inverted, like there's some assistive technology enabled).
During installation (using alternative installer), colors were OK. Before installing Lubuntu, I had windows installed, it was showing colors OK as well.
I did a bit of research and could not find the answer to my question (or maybe I completely missed it).
Here we go:
I am trying to install windows 7 on another net book and I was curious to know if I can download the windows 7 USB Boot loader (or something similar) on lubuntu and do it that way and then install on my other net book.
My problem - Ive had lubuntu and windows xp dual boot for a long time
after some xp updates it did something with the linux boot? couldnt get dual boot?
I finally got in and decided to update lubuntu and totally remove windows-and did.
Surprize my Sis video wont let me in now!
Hello Ubuntu Community,
I've read some posts in the forum, and some people have actually deleted their Windows OS. I haven't decided upon doing that yet, but I'm curious on how you do that. So, how do you delete windows?

Oh by the way, I replaced ubuntu with Lubuntu just yesterday. I heard from a friend the UI is a lot like Windows, and indeed it is.
i dont know what linux operating system i want to get i have ubuntu but that was so hard to run on a 12 year old laptop so i got lubuntu but with ubuntu and lubuntu on same 12 yr old computer i think it is running slower and i dont want to keep wasting disks for new things (tell me if possible how to overwrite a cd that has already been written to).
Hello, not sure if this is the right place for this question, feel free to move it!
I run Lubuntu but wanted to install Windows. So I used GParted Live CD to shrink the Linux partition and create a new Windows partition. Then I installed Windows on that partition fine and it boots.
